FREEBIE: Sherlock Holmes Calligraphy Workbook

Sherlock Holmes Calligraphy Workbook | Hoopla! Letters

Long time, no see, letter lovers! This holiday season really knocked me on my ass. In a good way! Tons of orders, live calligraphy at special events, art shows and, of course, oodles of family time. I got a little behind on the blog, but I am BACK. And we’re starting 2020 with a freebie. YAHOO!

Did you know that today, January 6, is Sherlock Holmes’ birthday? Girl, yes! True story, I have loved Sherlock Holmes ever since I was a kid. I had a couple books that featured simplified kid versions of some of his more famous stories that I read on a loop. That love grew after he made an appearance on Wishbone, the greatest children’s show PBS ever made, perhaps with the exception of Ghostwriter (side note, my family adopted a Jack Russell Terrier, and he did NOT take me and my brother on literary adventures, which was quite disappointing). I’ve always loved a mystery, and the way he figured things out using his “powers of deduction” always fascinated me. Fast forward to Benedict Cumberbatch, and yeah, it’s safe to say my love of Sherlock Holmes will be eternal.

To celebrate the birthday of the world’s greatest consulting detective, I’ve pulled together a super fun collection of calligraphy practice sheets featuring characters and phrases from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous creation. All you need is access to a printer and a brush pen — that’s it! This gives you a great opportunity to practice your calligraphy — because, honestly, you can only write your own name so many times. Print it out, give it a shot and be sure to share your work. It’s elementary, my dear letter lovers! (And yes, I know he never actually said this in his books, just give me this one, okay?)
